Cancel your policy anytime, free of charge
You’re free to cancel your policy whenever you like, free of charge. Just chat to us in the app anytime from 9am to 9pm, 365 days a year.
If your policy has already started, you won’t get a refund if you cancel
We do some things behind the scenes to set up your policy that cost time and money, which we can’t get back. This includes:
issuing a certificate of motor insurance
paying our payment provider
adding your vehicle details to the Motor Insurance Database
checking any incidents you’ve told us about on the national database (called the Claims and Underwriting Exchange)
That’s why once your policy has started, unfortunately we’re not able to offer a refund.
If you cancel your policy before it has started, you’ll get a refund
You can get if refund if you’ve:
bought a policy that starts on a date or time in the future
extended your policy but your extension hasn’t started yet
Let us know if you need to cancel your policy as soon as you can. We should be able to offer you a full refund.
If you’ve sold your vehicle, cancel your policy as soon as you can
If you’ve got an active policy on a vehicle, but you’ve sold your vehicle, we recommend cancelling your policy as soon as you can. If you don’t cancel your policy and a claim comes in from the new owner, it could end up as a claim against your record.
Refunds take up to 3 to 5 working days to appear in your account
If we’re able to offer you a refund, we’ll:
email you to confirm the amount
send the refund to the bank account linked to the card you used to pay for your policy
It usually takes 3 to 5 working days for refunds to be paid into your account. But if there’s a bank holiday, or depending on your bank, it may take longer.
