When you get temporary car insurance with Cuvva, it’s important to make sure your driving details are accurate - including previous incidents.
This helps us give you a fair price and makes sure your cover is valid.
What you need to declare
You’ll need to tell us about any driving incidents from the past 5 years, even if:
You weren’t at fault
You did not make a claim
Someone else was driving your car
You were a passenger
The incident involved a named driver on your policy
This includes:
Accidents
Windscreen or glass claims
Theft
Vandalism
Vehicle fires
Third-party injury claims
If you’re asked about an incident, you must declare it honestly and accurately.
How to declare an incident
If you’re new to Cuvva, we’ll ask you about previous incidents when you create your account.
If you already have an account, you can add an incident in the app:
Go to Profile.
Tap Account details.
Select Previous incidents.
You can’t edit an incident yourself after adding it. If something is wrong, contact support.
Updating or removing an incident
We can only update or remove an incident if the information is wrong, or if the incident did not happen.
To do this, we’ll need proof from your insurer, such as an email, letter, or document showing:
The correct information
That the incident never happened
Why this matters
Before you buy a policy, we check your details against the Claims and Underwriting Exchange (CUE).
CUE is a database that holds records of incidents and claims.
If your declaration does not match CUE, you may:
Be unable to buy a policy
Need to contact support before getting covered
See your price change
Be unable to get cover with Cuvva
In some cases, incorrect or missing information could affect your policy or any future claim.
Penalty points and convictions
You do not need to declare licence points, driving bans, or licence endorsements in the app.
We get your licence details from the DVLA through MyLicence, which helps us provide quicker and more accurate quotes.
Having points does not always mean we can’t cover you. We often can cover drivers with points, but it depends on the details and other factors, like the vehicle and your driving history.
After a driving ban
If you’ve recently got your licence back after a ban, it may take a few weeks before you can get a quote. That’s because the DVLA needs to update your licence record first.
Once your details are up to date, the best way to check if we can cover you is to try a quote in the app.
Non-motoring convictions
We can’t cover drivers with unspent non-motoring convictions.
How long a conviction stays unspent depends on the offence and sentence. You can find more information on GOV.UK.
