Using Cuvva with an international driving licence

You can get temporary car insurance with Cuvva using a range of international driving licences

Whether you're visiting the UK or already live here, you can use lots of international driving licences to drive a UK-registered car with Cuvva.

International licences we accept

As well as drivers with UK licences (England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland), we also insure drivers with full licences from most EU states and some non-EU countries.

Here's the full list:

This is because we’re not able to access licence data from these regions.

Learner Drivers

Right now we can only insure learner licences from England, Scotland, and Wales.

Policy length for international drivers

If you’re using an international licence:

  • You can buy policies up to 3 hours long

  • You can buy another policy when it ends if you need more time

A quick note on vehicles

Just so you know, you don't need to be a UK citizen to use Cuvva, but the car does need to be registered in the UK.

If you’re unsure whether your vehicle is eligible, you can check in the app or see our vehicle requirements article.
