Here's everything you need to know about cards and payments when buying temporary car insurance 👇
Managing your payment cards
It’s easy to add or remove a card in the app:
Open the Cuvva app
Tap 'Profile'
Tap 'Payment methods'
Add or remove your card
Using someone else’s card
You can pay for a policy using someone else’s card, like a friend or family member.
Just make sure:
You have their permission
You remove their card after use if it’s a one-off
How we keep your details safe
We don’t store your card details.
They’re securely handled by Stripe, our payment partner, who are a PCI Level 1 Service Provider (the highest level of security standard).
You can find more details in our privacy policy.
If a payment fails
Sometimes a payment won’t go through. This is called a failed capture, and it means we weren’t able to take the payment - and you weren't able to get insured.
There are a few possible reasons this can happen
The quote expired
You were logged in on multiple devices
A temporary issue during payment
What you’ll see
Your bank might show a pending payment.
If the payment isn’t completed:
We won’t take any money
The payment will disappear, usually within 3 to 5 working days (depending on your bank)
What to do next
Try again in the app. You’ll only be insured once your payment has gone through and your policy is active.
Unrecognised payments
If you see a payment you don’t recognise, contact our support team as soon as possible.
We’ll help you look into it and sort things out quickly.
If you have any questions, just search the help centre for a quick answer or reach out to our customer support team. Happy driving!
