Cuvva's temporary car insurance policies cover you to drive in:

  • Britain – England, Scotland, and Wales (this is where all policies must start and end)

  • Other UK regions – Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands

  • EU countries – Plus Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, and Switzerland

However, there are some things you need to know when driving outside of Britain.

Starting location

Your policy must begin and end in England, Scotland, or Wales. You can travel elsewhere after your policy starts, but you can't start or extend a policy outside Britain.

European cover

In Europe, your policy includes the minimum legal level of cover – this is usually third-party only, which means it covers:

  • Damage or injury to others

  • But not damage to your own vehicle

And just so you know: as of August 2, 2021, UK drivers no longer need a Green Card to drive in Europe.

Using the app

The app only works in England, Scotland, or Wales.

This means you must be physically in Britain to:

  • Get a quote

  • Buy a policy

  • Extend an existing policy

If you’re outside Britain, you won’t be able to extend your policy until you return.

Licence requirements

  • We cover: Driving licences issued in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Irish driving licences, as well as full driving licences issued in Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Romania, Spain, or Sweden

  • We don’t cover: Licences issued in the Isle of Man or Channel Islands, and licences from countries not mentioned in the list above
