Prove your identity with a selfie

How to prove your identity when signing up to use Cuvva

Before you can buy your first temporary car insurance policy, we’ll ask you to:

  • Take a live selfie

  • Upload a photo of your driving licence

This helps us confirm your identity and make sure your details are correct.


Why this matters

We use your details to work out your quote, including things like:

  • Your age

  • How long you’ve held your licence

So it’s important everything matches your ID.


Taking your selfie

Your selfie must be taken live in the app.

You can’t upload a photo you’ve already taken. This helps us make sure it’s really you.


Extra verification (sometimes needed)

If we can’t verify your selfie or licence, we might ask for another photo.

This will be a selfie where you’re holding an ID, such as:

  • Your driving licence

  • A passport

  • A military ID


Having trouble with your camera?

If your camera isn’t working properly, you can try:

  • Switching cameras (for example, triple tap the screen)

  • Logging into your account on another phone

You can upload a saved photo of your ID if needed:

  • On Android: tap the three dots in the camera screen

  • On iPhone: press and hold the capture button

Just remember, this only works for your ID.

You’ll still need to take a live selfie in the app.
