What is included in fully comprehensive car insurance?

Our short term car insurance is always fully comprehensive.

That means that if you were to be involved in an accident or claim, you'd be covered for:

  • Damage to your vehicle

  • Damage to other people's vehicles

  • Personal injury claims

We only offer comprehensive car insurance, so you can't choose a lower level of cover in the app.

What fully comprehensive insurance means

There are three main levels of personal car insurance in the UK.

  • Third party insurance only covers you for damage to other people's vehicles, and their personal injury claims.

  • Third party, fire, and theft includes everything covered in third party insurance, as well as covering your vehicle if it was stolen or damaged in a fire.

  • Comprehensive insurance covers all of the above, plus your own vehicle - even if the accident was your fault. This is the kind of insurance we offer at Cuvva when we talk about "fully comprehensive" coverage.

The main difference between the types of car insurance is the protection of your vehicle in the case of an accident. Unlike the first two types of car insurance, comprehensive cover protects your vehicle.

However, bear in mind that even a fully comprehensive policy will not necessarily cover every possible conceivable risk and will still have exceptions in the policy wording.

You might not have comprehensive cover outside of Great Britain

Our short term car insurance policies are comprehensive as long as you're driving in Great Britain (England, Scotland or Wales - not Northern Ireland). If you're driving in Europe, you'll have a much lower level of cover - typically lower than third party.

Check your policy details in the app

For more information on what your policy covers, you can check your policy details in the app.

You'll see these after you get a quote and sign up.

And for even more details, you'll be able to see a copy of your policy documents before you pay.
